UN family in Botswana held the celebrations of the UN day on reducing STIGMA around mental illnesses in collaboration with tertiary institutions, Business Botswana and the Botswana government from the 18th of October to the 8th of November 2019.

UNDP hosted an event to share achievements to date, of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s unique flagship business Supplier Development Programme (SDP). This special event was themed “Supporting Local Production through UNDP’s SDP”. The event also showcased and celebrated the Buyers, Suppliers and SDP Consultants, who are on the SDP (Year 1).

More African governments than ever before are delivering social assistance to the poor and to vulnerable populations. Coverage is still quite limited, but the number of programmes has been rising rapidly in the last decade with the trend across Africa towards broadening and deepening social assistance. The State of Social Assistance in Africa report maps and analyzes the recent growth across three foundational dimensions of social assistance
The Coordinator of Poverty Eradication Unit, Mr. Montshiwa Montshiwa, who represented the Minister of Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Hon. Nonofo Molefhi, during the occasion officially opened the launch meeting. He revealed that though Botswana has not been using the Multidimensional Poverty Index, all the interventions have been geared toward eradicating poverty using the multidimensional and multisectoral approach
